The Intercollegiate Retreat returns with “Christ is Risen” theme
The Diocese of Savannah Campus Ministry Intercollegiate Retreat is back after a year’s hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Catholic Eagles, the campus ministry at Georgia Southern University, posted photos from the 2019 retreat from Camp Grace in Roberta on their Facebook page. The camp will again be held at Camp Grace this year from April 9-11. Registration for the event began last month and ends April 4 and cost $90.
More than two dozen parishioners of the Church of the Holy Family, Columbus got together for the annual spring cleaning effort over the weekend of March 20-21. The annual spring clean-up day comes in anticipation and preparation for Easter Sunday Mass. The group of parishioners did not have the opportunity to get together last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The parish organizing committee, led by long time parishioners Stephanie Gudz, Corrie Pope, Linda Turner and Roy Walters, led the way as 26 other fellow parishioners assisted in the effort.
The Church of the Holy Family is located at 320 12th Street in Columbus.
Cadets instructed on how to “Arrive Alive”
On March 22 the Benedictine Military School Cadets got an up close and personal lesson on how to “arrive Alive” from the people behind the “Arrive Alive Tour.” A drunk and distracted driving awareness initiative, UNITE’s “Arrive Alive” teaches young drivers that sober driving is the only way to drive by simulating scenarios in which they are distracted for better understanding of what can happen behind the wheel when one is impaired.
The tour uses simulators that allowed the Cadets to experience impaired driving. UNITE makes an annual appearance at Benedictine. The tour also visits colleges, having also made an appearance within the Diocese at Augusta University last September.

Pack 491 finished second overall in the Lego Derby, a team event, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic School students Jebran Gladwin finished first in the Mini Cub Marathon event and second in the District Pinewood Derby race.
